From there, it’s a 1-hour (40 km / 25 miles) drive from Amman to Madaba, in a luxury car which includes WiFi, sipping coffee and enjoying your selected snacks. Ruins of Five Byzantine Churches

Originally built in 557 AD, Church of SS Lot & Procopius houses remarkable mosaics covering the floor almost entirely, with the central carpet divided into two areas framed by ornamental borders with scenes of daily life such as agricultural work, fishing and winemaking. After observing the mosaics at the Church of SS Lot & Procopius, we can visit the ruins of other churches in the area, all within walking distance: the Church of SS Amos and Casiseos and the Church of Saint George.

Al Hakaya Museum

Al Hakaya is an immersive culture centre where people can take an exciting journey through history to explore Jordan’s religious, historical and cultural heritage as a strategic nexus between different civilisations from the past to the present. In addition to the museum, there is a workshop with a large selection of souvenirs, artworks and Jordanian precious stones.

Moses' Spring

This spring is one of two places where Moses is believed to have obtained water by striking a rock. A small waterfall and a cave with dripping water are the main objects of this attraction. The best time to visit is during the winter when it rains but wear good shoes as it could be quite wet and slippery in the cave.

Mount Nebo

Mount Nebo is where Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land, a land he was himself forbidden to enter. It's believed that he died aged 120 and was later buried in the area, although the exact location of the burial site is the subject of conjecture. Mt Nebo, a rather small complex but with big history, features several rocky outcrops, including Siyagha (the local name of the site, meaning ‘monastery’). The Moses Memorial Church is perched on the summit, commanding sweeping views of the Dead Sea and Israel and the Palestinian Territories beyond. The church has beautiful original mosaics which are stunning. Also, there is a small museum that explains the history of the site. After settling entrance fees, I will take you around the complex, explaining the history of the place and the legends behind it.

Panorama Dead Sea Complex

We'll take a mountain road with stunning views and basically “drop” from 800m (0.5 miles) above sea level to minus 400m (0.25 miles) arriving at the Dead Sea. We will visit a unique and beautiful complex with panoramic views of the dead sea from above, seat at the edge of the cliff sipping coffee or tea.

The Baptism Site Of Jesus Christ

We will drive by the Dead Sea to the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ. Here I will drop you off for an organised tour (1.5 - 2 hours) of the site with a local guide and meet you on your return back. The tickets to the site are not included and currently, it's 12 JOD per person (8 JOD with the valid Jordan Pass). Expect to walk for about 2 km during the tour. Situated on the eastern bank of the River Jordan, nine kilometres north of the Dead Sea, the archaeological site consists of two distinct areas: Tell Al-Kharrar and the area of the churches of Saint John the Baptist near the river. Situated in a pristine natural environment the site is believed to be the location where Jesus of Nazareth was baptized by John the Baptist. It features Roman and Byzantine remains including churches and chapels, a monastery, caves that have been used by hermits and pools in which baptisms were celebrated, testifying to the religious character of the place.

Dead Sea - Amman

We will drive you all the way back to Amman and drop you off at your hotel, where we picked you up. No doubt after a satisfying and inspiring few hours at the famous Dead Sea and Mount Nebo.

Beautiful mosaics and stunning views
Another tour we booked with Alex was the tour to Mount Nebo to see the mosaics. It was very relaxing and at the same time an educational tour, we visited 3 museums which were very interesting. Mosaics were really impressive, something we have never seen before. Then we went on a mountain road to the Dead Sea, to the complex which seats above the sea with some really beautiful views. If you are visiting the Dead Sea you must come here to experience it from above, you won’t regret it. Alex was feeding us again all the way, and of cause, we had a ride on a Tesla, which was an amazing experience by itself. Our visit to Jordan was excellent and we are planning to come again next year.

A nice surprise
I went on this tour to see mosaics and was pleasantly surprised by how much more I got from the tour. First, we have visited several churches and one of them had fantastic mosaics on display. Then we went to the Moses spring, a hard to reach but very interesting place, a beautiful cave. The museum, the next stop, was also nice to visit and I had lunch next to it. After that, we went to see the Dead Sea from a complex with a museum and restaurant with beautiful views over the sea. I really enjoyed the tour and would recommend Alex at any time.
